Jesus spent three and a half years identifying, training, and sending 12 men who changed the world with the good news of the gospel. As Christians, our goal is not only to be reconciled to God, but also to follow Jesus' example of training - ongoing training providing vitality, excitement, and continual growth for a lifetime. But many Christians are bored, stagnant, and dry because they are not obeying Christ's command to make disciples. While every Christians may not be ready to disciple, every Christian is expected to disciple, and we are committed to helping you do it.

Ministry Training at LBC uses three areas designed to help you grow in your knowledge of Christ so you are equipped to make disciples.

How does this work?

Ministry Training is an intentional, three-part process to develop people from new believers to fully delighted and devoted followers of Jesus who are actively making disciples.

MINISTRY TRAINING CLASSES

These are practical and applicable Sunday classes at 10:00 a.m. beginning Sunday, September 6. Each class builds on the previous one. (The classes in parenthesis will be added soon as more teachers are recruited and trained.)

• Fundamentals, room A103 – For new believers, new LBCers, and those wanting to take the first step in growing in their relationship with Christ.
• (Evangelism – Learn how to share the gospel with unsaved loved ones, friends, and coworkers.)
• Discipleship, room A105 –  Learn how to help a new believer or a less-spiritually-mature believer grow in their delight and devotion to Christ.
• Core Theology, room A203 – This three-semester class teaches the core doctrines of the Bible in preparation for becoming a small group leader.
• (Leadership Training – Learn skills for leading ministry and small groups of all ages.)
• Deacon Training, room A205 – Deacons work alongside the Elders to meet the practical needs of the church.
• (Elder Training – Training to equip qualified men to become an Elder at LBC.)
  

DISCIPLESHIP

While Jesus used large-group teaching formats occasionally in His ministry (Matt. 5-7, 10, 13, 18, 24-25), classroom-style instruction was not His primary method of discipleship. He spent the bulk of His time showing, practicing, and providing real-time feedback to the disciples. This intentional and saturated mentorship is the Bible’s example of real discipleship. One-on-One or small group discipleship is a required component of Ministry Training.
